These adorable mason jars make great gifts. Here are the steps to make them.
Supplies Needed:
1. 100 grit sand paper
2. Grey primer spray paint
3. Indoor/Outdoor spray paint of your choice in gloss finish.
4. White acrylic paint
5. White paint pen
6. Potting soil
7. Flower (we used Impatiens)
Step 1: Rough up the mason jar with sand paper then rinse and dry thoroughly
Step 2: Prime your jar and let dry for an hour
Step 3: Spray paint your color using light coats and always keep your hand
moving in order to prevent runs. I did 2 coats. Let that dry overnight.
Step 4: (The fun part.) Paint your childs hand with the acrylic paint and put it on the jar. With Landon (who is six), this went pretty smooth. However, with mine and my sister's one-year-old boys, this was tricky. But with using gloss paint, we were able to wipe any mistakes right off with a baby wipe. This dries pretty fast. You can also write their name on the jar with a paint pen at this point.
Step 5: Once the handprint is dry fill the jar with soil and plant your flower.
Ta da! Its finished! A gift anyone would cherish!
